|Working birthday. That's a muffin.|
And I remember saying I'd see you all in March, like, a few blogs ago.
But then the deadline got a little shorter than I thought it was and the book got a little longer than I thought it was, and so I think I really meant "See you in April!"
But since I'm here, let me drop some good news and random linkage on you.
In no particular order, here are some great lists PLEASE IGNORE VERA DIETZ has landed on:
YALSA Best Fiction for Young Adults 2011 List
Cooperative Children's Book Center's CCBC Choices 2011
Pennsylvania Young Reader's Choice Award nominee 2011/2012
Capitol Choices: Noteworthy Books for Children and Teens 2011
Michigan Thumbs Up Award nominee 2011
Download on Audible here or wait a few more weeks for the CD set!
A full cast, a wonderful recording, and only eight hours and thirteen minutes long!
(Isn't that the coolest bit of random trivia?)
Huge kudos to the people at Listening Library who tackled the project in record time.
I GOT THE PERFECT DRESS FOR THE EDGAR AWARD BANQUET.
I know. I am the last person you'd expect to say that, right? But look at it this way. I don't wear dresses. Being kindly invited to a black tie event is enough to make me want to scurry back to my hermit life talking only to poultry and the occasional postman.
I could show you a picture of it, but I'm not going to. Instead, I will only say it looks like it was made by Tim Burton and that the sleeves are long enough for me, which in itself is a miracle.
New public events. . .
I'll be at Albright College on March 31st.
The Greater Reading V-Day Vagina Monologues will be April 1,2 & 3 and this year we're doing I Am an Emotional Creature also.
I'll be at the Fleetwood library on May 4th.
<--VERA HAS BEEN SPOTTED IN GERMANY.
DON'T FORGET WORD BROOKLYN on March 15th. I'll be there at 7 talking about writing books, publishing them and staying weird.
You've been reading all this time to find out what exciting things I'm doing on my birthday, haven't you?
2000 words and a library board meeting later tonight.
Anyone who thinks that isn't fun hasn't been to a library board meeting.
See you in April!
